5 DAYS KIDEPO VALLEY WILDLIFE EXPERIENCE

Overview:

Kidepo Valley National Park [KVNP] is a finest wilderness safari destination. It is a Gem in the remote Northern corner of the country, an oasis in the semi desert. The park is traversed by large sand rivers, which are known to host a huge population of game, there are over 77 mammals with unique species such as Cheetahs, birds like the Ostrich among others. It is one of Uganda’s most decorated National Park with a number of International Accolades such as being Africa’s Number 3 among the 10 best National Parks in 2013 from CNN Travel, Africa’s second most beautiful Park out of the top 8 safari destinations of 2018 by CNN, it offers everything from safari drives, foot safaris, hiking and community encounters. It hosts the raised Morungole Ranges at 2750metres offering challenging hikes to lucky visitors who make it to this park.

Note: On your day of arrival, you will be met and received by our guide at Entebbe International Airport and be transferred to your overnight accommodation in Kampala. Day 01: Transfer from Kampala North wards to Kitgum

Have an early breakfast at your overnight accommodation in Kampala, then board to embark on a long drive North of the country to Kitgum through the scenic Kampala-Gulu highway, past Kafu River and Karuma Falls. You break off en-route for simple relaxation and stretch out, later continue to Gulu where you have your lunch. Travel onward to Kitgum arriving in the evening at your booked hotel for overnight. Meal Plan: Half Board. Overnight: Boma Hotel

Alternatively, a domestic flight can be used from Kajjansi near Entebbe to Lomej Airstrip in Kidepo National Park, this cuts the journey and tour short as well as rewarding visitors with pleasant scenic aerial views of the Pearl of Africa.

Day 02: Depart Kitgum to Kidepo Valley National Park.

After breakfast, checkout from the accommodation, board off heading further North to Kidepo arriving in the afternoon hours. Head to the booked lodge, check-in and have lunch. Later in the afternoon you will go for a game drive through the park for the finest safari experience, exploring the Narus valley for superb view of the wildlife that congregates here. Expect to see the big game, available are; the Rothschild’s Giraffes, Cape Buffalos, Bushbucks, Caracel, Burchells Zebra and others.

Meal Plan: Full Board. Overnight: Apoka Game lodge [luxury] or Savanna lodge [midrange].

Day 03: Full day of activities in the park; cultural encounter and Morungole hike

Have an early breakfast, today you will explore the park diversity including a taste of the Karamojong culture. Leave the lodge with packed lunch boxes, take part in a morning game drive looking out for more game to add on your safari checklist. You later have a taste of the African culture when you visit Karamojong homesteads. Discover the treasures of this cultural group. In the late afternoon, you go for a hiking adventure to the Morungole ranges-a sacred home of the mysterious Ike people; the summit command beautiful view of the park and Karamojong plains. Return to the lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight.

Meal Plan: Full Board. Overnight: Apoka Game lodge [luxury] or Savanna lodge [midrange]. 

Day 04: Game encounter around Apoka and Transfer to Gulu.

Today after breakfast, go for an early game viewing expedition on a foot safari around Apoka for a close range encounter of the wildlife that congregates here. This presents you opportune moments to see Zebras, Reedbucks, Buffalos and Elephants among others.

Return to the lodge in the midmorning hours, checkout with your lunch boxes and embark on a drive to Gulu where you would spend your night at the hotel.

Meal Plan: Full Board. Overnight: Acholi Inn hotel (luxury) or Boma hotel (midrange).

Day 05: Travel to Kampala or Entebbe airport.

Start with an early breakfast, later you will checkout and hit the road for a drive southwards from Gulu back to Kampala. [Optional] en-route you can branch off in Nakasongola to the wilds of Ziwa to track the White Rhinos; a member of Africa’s Big Five. You will have your lunch here and continue to Kampala, be dropped off at your hotel or be transferred to the airport for your flight. Meal Plan: Breakfast and Lunch. End of Safari
