Uganda is a beautiful country with an impressive range of habitats, a factor that makes birdlife flourish and it’s indeed a birders paradise. It has an alluring diversity of bird species with more than 1060 species on its list and it’s the smallest country among Africa’s 4 countries whose bird list hits the 1000 mark, this makes Uganda by-far the best bird watching destination. The country’s bird density accounts to nearly 11% of the Global bird species.
On this birding palate, you will explore the avian life in Mabamba wetland located west of Entebbe just on the shores of Lake Victoria, it is known for the pre-historic looking Shoebill Stork; a bird sought after by birding enthusiasts. You will also bird the environs of Lake Mburo National Park, it’s a tempting birding site with 20% of its surface comprised of wetland habitats supporting over 330 species.
Note: On your day of arrival, you will be met and received by our guide at Entebbe International Airport and be transferred to your overnight accommodation in Entebbe. Day 01: Birding in Mabamba and transfer to Mburo [Approximately 4hours drive]
Have an early breakfast at your o/n accommodation, transfer very early to catch the morning birding session at Mabamba wetland for the best opportunities to spot the Shoebill Stork hunting in the Marsh. You will spot other species such as; African Jacana, Pied Kingfisher, Purple Heron, Pallid Harrier, Papyrus Gonolek and man more. Bird watching here is done on a canoe paddled by a local skipper. In the afternoon, you will embark on a drive heading to Lake Mburo National Park and en-route you have a lunch break and stop at the Equator for a simple tour and snap shots. On arrival you will head to your booked accommodation where o/n and dinner will be.

Day 02: Bird watching in Mburo on a boat cruise and drive
Wake up early enough and have breakfast, leave the lodge for an early birding session on the idyllic waters of Lake Mburo. The 2-3 hours voyage will reward you with sightings of variety of water birds like the African Fish Eagle, Fin Foot, Water Cormorants, Pelicans and if lucky the rare Shoebill among others. You will see variety of wildlife along the shores like Hippopotamuses and Crocodiles. Later, have lunch and in the late afternoon, go for another bird watching session anticipating to see some game including Impalas, Zebras, Klip Springer and many more. Retire for the night at your lodge. Meal Plan: Full Board [FB].
Day 03: Early birding and transfer back to Kampala
An early start with breakfast and go for an early bird watching session on a nature walk, this presents you chance to add more birds on your safari checklist. Later head to the lodge and checkout and embark on a drive back to Kampala, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight back home or be dropped off at your hotel. Lunch will be enroute.
