Overview:
Located in Southwest of Rwanda at the border with Burundi, Nyungwe Forest National Park is a fine safari destination with a vast area of Mountain Forest hosting variety of wildlife species and mostly its abundant primates; it covers an area of over 1000sq.km extending over the majestic hills of the country. It is home to nearly 13 Primate species such as; Chimpanzees, Mona Monkey, Blue Monkey, Ruwenzori Colobus, Owl-faced, Angola colobus, L’Hoest and many others, over 300bird species, 85mammal, 32amphibian and 38reptile species. A canopy walk just above the beauty in this park makes your African safari memorable; the Canopy experience is the highlight of this Evergreen Park.

Airport arrival and pick-up
Welcome to the Land of a Thousand hills! On the day of arrival, your guide will be waiting for you at Kigali International Airport. Receive a warm welcome and then you are transferred to the hotel in Kigali where you will have your overnight stay. Depending on time of arrival, you may do a city tour around Kigali visiting places like the Genocide memorial centre and/or Presidential Palace museum.
Accommodation: Kigali Serena hotel (luxury)/ Gorillas Golf Hotel (midrange)/ Tea House Kigali (basic). Bed & Breakfast.
Day 01: Travel from Kigali to Nyungwe [Approximately 4hours drive]
After breakfast at your overnight hotel; meet with your guide here, receive briefing and later embark on an early drive southwest of the country to Nyungwe Forest National Park. Enjoy the beautiful countryside on the drive through this side of the country; en-route stop at Nyanza King’s Palace at Nyabisindi or Gikongoro’s Genocide Memorial. You have lunch en-route or at the lodge.

Day 02: Chimpanzee tracking and bird watching
After an early breakfast at the lodge, head for an ultimate Chimpanzee tracking starting from one of the 3 reception centres; Uwinka, Kitabi or Gisakura. The park is home to many other primates apart from these delightful apes therefore, expect to see; Silver Monkeys, Owl-faced, and Mona Monkeys. Have lunch in the afternoon and later head for another forest experience as you lookout for more wildlife including birds; return to the lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight. Note: reception at 0430hours and by 0500hours you set to the start point.

Day 03: Canopy walk in the park and travel back to Kigali.
Start with an early breakfast at the lodge, proceed to Uwinka reception area to start off a stunning Canopy walk. Experience the Mountain Forest Park’s diversity in a different perspective on a walk above 60metres from the ground. After about 2hours of activity, head to the lodge, checkout and transfer back to Kigali onward to the airport for your flight back home; lunch will be en-route or in Kigali.
