On this 3 day chimpanzee habituation Uganda safari, you have a fun-filled day of excitement with these delightful primates in Kibale Forest national park, which is referred to as the “Primate Capital of the World”. The habituation experience gives you more time to spend with the Chimpanzees than on a normal tracking tour.

Uganda's Kibale Forest Chimpanzee habituation safari is a form of experiential tourism and can be a half or full-day activity where you accompany Kibale’s researchers as they follow the Chimpanzees on their daily activities aimed at getting them used to human presence, without altering their environment. The activity involves following and closely monitoring an identified group of chimps almost on a daily basis. The forest is serene and diverse, with over 13 species of primates like the L’Hoest Monkeys, Blue Monkeys, Black and White colobus, Bush Babies, Olive Baboons and Potto among others, it is home to over 1450 Chimps and nearly 372 bird species including 6 endemics of the Albertine Rift region.

Day 01: Travel from Kampala to Kibale Forest National Park [Approximately 6hours drive]

Start off this Uganda Chimpanzee habituation safari to Kibale Forest with breakfast at the hotel, your Uganda safari guide will meet you here and then transfer to the western part of the country to Kibale. The route through this part of the country is scenic characterized by the undulating green tea fields and rolling landscape. You will break off for lunch in Fort Portal town and then continue to the park arriving in the evening hours, check-in at the booked lodge for relaxation in the tranquil vicinity of the forest, where dinner and overnight will be.

Meal Plan: Lunch and Dinner, Overnight: Ndali lodge (Premium) or Primate /Crater lodge (Luxury) or Primate lodge (Midrange) or Kibale Forest Camp (Basic).

Day 02: Chimpanzee Habituation Safari Experience (CHEX) in Kibale Forest National Park

Start with an early breakfast at the lodge, the guide will help you to pack your lunch boxes in the car and then transfer very early to the visitor reception area at Kanyanchu where Chimpanzee habituation experience in Kibale Forest commences from. After briefing, you will accompany the researchers and Habituators as they follow and monitor a group of Chimpanzees on their daily activity. These are opportune moments to see them de-nesting, feeding, copulating, hunting, breast feeding, resting, patrolling until they build their nests.

The diversity, scent and backdrop sounds of nature in the forest make this activity remarkable. You will encounter lots of wildlife species in the forest. You will enjoy a picnic lunch and later after the activity, head back to the lodge for relaxation dinner and overnight.

Day 03: Nature walk in Bigodi and later transfer back to Kampala or Entebbe.

Start the day with an early breakfast and sign-off this habituation safari with a nature walk in Bigodi wetland located near the park. The wetland is a wildlife corridor to the park and it hosts a variety of wildlife with over 200 bird species, 8 primate species as well as mammals like the Bushbucks and the wetland dwelling Sitatunga. After about 3 hours of activity, you will be transferred back to Kampala or Entebbe airport for your flight. Meal Plan: Breakfast and Lunch. End of Safari
