Overview:

This is one of the best Uganda safari, the Golden monkey tracking and Gorilla trekking tour in Mgahinga gorilla National Park lets you explore the rugged wilds of Uganda's smallest park, “Where Gold meets Silver” . The park located in the southwestern part of the country sits high in the clouds of the Virunga Volcanos. The park offers ideal grounds for trekking the gorillas in the misty mountain forest of the Virunga range, the endangered Golden Monkey tracking as well as exploring the Batwa trail -a forest group dwelling in the forest regions of Western-East Africa

You will hike one of the 3 volcanos to take in the superb views and Kodak memories of the Virungas, the neighboring countries of Rwanda and Congo D.R. as well as the towering Rwenzori ranges. On this tour, you will explore Lake Bunyonyi, one of the most beautiful places on the African continent.

Note: On the day of arrival for your Golden monkey- Gorilla trekking best Uganda safari, you will be warmly received by our guide at Entebbe International Airport and be transferred to your overnight accommodation in Kampala. Day 01: Transfer to Mgahinga Gorilla Park [Approximately 8-10hrs]                                              

Meet with your Uganda safari guide after an early breakfast, later set-off southwest of the country to the park, proceeding through the pleasant countryside. En-route you will break off twice; at the Equator, for a simple tour, Kodak moments and souvenir shopping as well for lunch at Igongo cultural Hotel for a taste of a local cuisine (optional: do a cultural tour at the museum for a palate of the Ankole culture) or Agip Hotel.

Proceed with the journey all the way to Kisoro, a region commanding glorious views of the Kigezi highlands. Continue to the accommodation where dinner and overnight will be.

Day 02: Ultimate Gorilla Trekking in Mgahinga

Start-off your gorilla trekking day with an early breakfast and transfer to the park headquarters at Ntebeko where tracking sets off from. After registration, receive briefing from the ranger and later enter the forest at 0800hrs for gorilla trekking which may last (2-5) hours depending on Gorilla movements. The park is located on the boarders of Rwanda and Uganda so there is a migratory pattern of the Gorillas depending on the availability of food and other factors, October-May, they are present in Uganda and seen in Rwanda the rest of the year.

The activities in the park require better health and physical fitness due to the terrain. Once you meet the Gorillas, an hour is given to you in their presence and later retreat. A picnic lunch will be enjoyed.

Day 03: Hiking the Volcano in Mgahinga Gorilla trekking park

After breakfast, transfer very early to Ntebeko where you will set off from. Meet up here with your guide who will take you through this adventurous hike to one of the summits depending on your interest. You will hike one of the three Virunga peaks found in the park that is; Muhavura at 4127 meters with a crystal clear crater at its summit, Sabinyo at 3669 meters and Mount Gahinga at 3474 meters having a swamp filled crater at the summit. The tops of these volcanos command panoramic views into the neighboring countries that share the massif. Hiking lasts about 8hours or the entire day therefore you have a picnic/ packed lunch. Later return to the lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight.

Day 04: Golden monkey tracking and transfer to Bunyonyi for boat ride

This day after and early breakfast, set off for tracking the Golden monkeys; a form of experiential tourism in the park. The activity takes about 4 hours as you search for these great species with striking golden colors, found in the Bamboo forest zone of the reserve. Later retreat, and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi for a stunning boat trip along the lake to discover some of its historical Islands. You will feast your eyes and cameras on some of Africa’s best scenery while on the lake. Later in the evening, retire at your lodge.

Day 05: Transfer back to Kampala

Sign-off this golden monkey- gorilla trekking best Uganda safari  with an early breakfast, checkout from the lodge and embark on the journey back to Kampala, you will be dropped off at the hotel or at the Airport for you flight back home.
