Carry-on Bags

Your carry-on bag is your travel lifeline. It keeps your essentials within easy reach during your flight or journey. When preparing for a flight, one of the most important things to understand is your airline’s carry-on baggage policy, because airlines have strict rules on size, weight, and contents. In aviation terminology, it can also be referred to as cabin, unchecked, or hand luggage allowance.

Most airlines allow one standard carry-on bag or suitcase and a small personal item, such as a handbag, laptop bag, or backpack, which is accepted at no extra charge.

Understanding the airline's carry-on allowance policies and limits is crucial before you confirm your flight or pack your bag to avoid stressful and costly surprises at the check-in gates. The exact dimensions and weight limits vary by airline and class of service, i.e., economy, business, or first-class. Oversized or overweight bags may need to be checked in, often at an additional cost if they exceed the checked baggage limits. Low-cost carriers often have stricter, at times expensive, policies, frequently charging for anything beyond a small personal item.

The weights vary considerably by airline and class of service, ranging from 6 kg to 20 kg. Airlines require checked baggage to be small enough to fit in the overhead compartment in the aircraft cabin.

When packing your carry-on, remember there are limits on what items and how much can be transported, including liquids, gels, creams, and aerosols, which must comply with the 100ml rule and be packed in a clear,

resealable plastic bag. Sharp objects, flammable materials, and other prohibited items should never be placed in hand luggage. Instead, focus on essentials such as travel documents, valuables, medications, electronics,

chargers, and a change of clothes, especially if your checked luggage is delayed or you are traveling with kids.

We advise travelers with long layovers to pack smart and always include a scarf, jacket or coat, headgear, and convenience items in their carry-on bag, as airports can be colder.

Understanding and following carry-on policies not only saves time at security but also ensures a smoother, less

stressful journey.

Remember, always pack smart, travel light, and keep your essentials within easy reach. To our clients, we always say the golden rule is simple: “Never assume the policies are the same for every airline; always confirm.”
