Avens began its journey in June, 2018, founded by Sylivia Specioza Namukasa, a resilient, retired
Ugandan businesswoman and visionary. Our story is one of triumph over adversity. Sylivia’s journey into business began as a single mother raising five children, enduring hardships that would break many. But where others saw struggle, she saw purpose. When stability came, she turned her pain into power—not only for her family but also for countless other children and women who, like her, needed a lifeline.
The company was born of a dual passion: an unshakable commitment to social impact and the founder’s love of aviation, as evidenced by her sending two of her children to aviation and travel institutions. What began as Namukasa’s dream of exploring the skies became a travel agency with a heart, where every booking fueled positive impact for the underprivileged children she cared for and the suffering women in her
advisory custody.
At its inception, its founder relied on the capital she had at the time, her children, who had graduated and
worked in the travel industry, and the little savings she had after retiring. The company has grown from humble beginnings with two staff members to a team of more than 10 members as of 2025, excluding field guides.
By 2025, the company has established partnerships across Africa, Asia, the SEA subcontinent, the Middle
East, Canada, and Europe.
Our Story
2022
started our first charity program with a local NGO in Uganda
From date, Avens Travel World has been carrying on its founder’s mentality with its growth and daily management spearheaded by its MD – Ms Victoria Namakula and her team. We’re an enterprise that carries forward the founding principal and mandate of sustainability. ___So, we’re for the Children, Women and the Communities____ In 2022 – December, we started our first charity program with a local NGO in Uganda; WNIS, where we did an outreach in Eastern Uganda – Magamaga town, this program included a health camp and feeding of the vulnerable street children in the area who have limited access to health care. For Children: We want to use a portion of our proceeds to support underprivileged children through providing access to education and skilling, and hope—because no child’s future should be limited by circumstance. In 2023 – March, we marked the International Women’s Day celebrations led by our MD -Victoria, with a visit to a woman led local school in Gayaza – Uganda, here we donated various scholastic materials and other items. In 2022 – August, through our Head of Business, we established a working relationship with two local organizations in Kasese – Western Uganda; TWEO and MRM Orphanage to support them through various aspects like tourism and skilling For Women: From the background of our founders, we like to empower women especially single mothers and survivors of gender-based violence through skilling in different spheres and create access to employment opportunities to help them rebuild their lives. In 2023 – January, we registered a Community Based Organization (CBO) – RECI in western Uganda, Rwamabale Village. This is the place of origin of one of our team members and having realized the challenges the area faces, we want to use it to extend support of different kind to empower the community especially women and vulnerable children through skilling, access to education and fostering sustainable development in long run. For Communities: We want to foster sustainable development in communities through partnering and supporting local organizations in areas where we operate. Our aim is to set-up the ATW Foundation as we mark 10-years to help us coordinate all our CSR programs and use it to drive /foster socio-economic impact in communities. Seven years since its founding, Avens Travel World has grown from a humble start into an internationally recognized agency soon being registered Canada.

In April the company became a proud member of AUTO – the Association of Uganda Tour Operators, joining a local and regional community of tourism professionals and operators.

We officially opened our Canada office to service our North America & Canada travellers
