Venture into Rwanda’s misty mountain forests and experience the thrill of encountering primates in their natural habitat. Lock eyes with some of the – Greatest of the Apes – follow expert guides through lush bamboo forests where Golden Monkeys leap and Mountain Gorillas roam. Itinerary Details

Day 1: Airport arrival

Our guide/representative/ team member will be ready to receive you on arrival at the airport and will transfer you to your overnight accommodation in Kigali for relaxation.

Overnight: Retreat by Heaven

Day 2: Kigali City tour – to Volcanos National Park

A hearty breakfast at hotel, go for a city tour of Kigali. You visit the Genocide memorial center where you’ll learn about what unfolded during the 1994 Rwanda’s genocide and also a visit to local markets is worthwhile.

Later, have lunch and depart northwest to Volcanos national park at Ruhengeri. Check-in at the accommodation where dinner and overnight will be.

Day 3: Tracking the Gorillas

Have breakfast at the lodge: Today is the big day – grand moment that no words can ever better describe but witnessing by your own eyes. You’ll be transferred to the park headquarters/ reception area, here you’ll be registered and assigned a ranger guide who will take you through briefing about the Gorilla tracking etiquette. Later start off the trek to meet the Gorilla group you will be assigned and once you come across the family – you’ve an hour in their presence.

Overnight: Virunga Volcanos lodge

Day 4: Golden Monkey tracking, travel to Kigali

Today you’ll track the endangered Golden Monkeys which call the Virunga ranges home. You meet with the park guide for an introductory briefing – set into the forest to meet these primates – which usually inhabit the bamboo forest zones. Afterwards you’ll transfer back to the lodge – cultural experience at Iby’iwachu cultural village, transfer back to Kigali.

Day 5: To Nyungwe forest

Leave Kigali after your breakfast – road transfer on a nearly 4-hour journey to Nyungwe forest. Here you arrive for lunch and refreshment at the hotel and afterwards go for an adventurous canopy walk in Nyungwe where your eyes roll-over a rollercoaster of mountain forest. Dinner and overnight at hotel.

Day 6: Chimpanzee tracking

Today you’ll go Chimpanzee tracking deep in the heart of Nyungwu Forest. Start with an early breakfast – transfer to the park reception area at Uwinka, you assemble for registration and briefing. Late set off into the forest with the ranger guide for Chimpanzee tracking -and this may last just 2 to 5 hours with one hour availed to you to watch them.

Lunch at the hotel and the afternoon is yours to spend at leisure or visit a tea-plantation on see locals harvest.

Day 7: Back to Kigali

Have a leisurely breakfast – Bid farewell to Rwanda – take on the journey to Kigali with a drop off at the airport for your airport for your flight back home.
